How it works

The public can nominate toys online through the National Toy Hall of Fame website, via email, or by U.S. mail. Each year, an internal museum advisory committee comprised of curators, educators, and historians reviews the submitted nominations and pre-qualifies the 12 toys that best meet the criteria for selection. Final selections are made on the advice of a national selection advisory committee comprised of historians, educators, and other individuals who exemplify learning, creativity, and discovery through their lives and careers.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Icon Status – Widely recognized, respected and remembered
• Breyer Horses is known worldwide to deliver the most authentic, beautiful, high-quality, and hand-painted horses for play and collecting.

Longevity – More than a passing fad and has been enjoyed over a multitude of generations.
• For 70 years Breyer has been dedicated to creating the most authentic horses in the world, which makes Breyer unique to any other horse brand and has brought horse-happiness to three generations of fans.

Discovery – Fosters learning, creativity and discovery through play
• Breyer has a large multi-generation of fan hobbyists who create and share their horses to each other at Breyer Fest and through social media postings. Breyer is the leader in equestrian knowledge – Breyer KNOWS horses and girls learn and discover the horse world through these authentic Breyer horses.

Innovation
• BreyerFest is the #1 fan fest/convention drawing over 30,000 fans every July from all 50 states and 6 countries (in 2018) from around the world.
• Every Breyer horse is hand-painted for total authenticity and originality - no two are alike.
